Art Garfunkel

This talented singer was well known for his massive ginger afro. In this early pre-afro shot you can clearly see he is suffering some hair loss already.

This raises an interesting question. Why would anyone, when choosing a hairpiece, choose a fuzzy ginger one?

Only Garfunkel himself can answer that.

In recent years, he has ditched the ginger clown wig and can be seen with a much more natural look.

  1. One can never tell why somebody insists on wearing a hairpiece that doesn't match their hair. I worked with a man who had a green tinged gray hairpiece. It was quite obvious from a block away that it was not his hair. Still, He loved it.

  2. Artie has never made a secret of his hairpiece in recent years, and has even joked about it on stage. As far as I can tell, he only wears it during performances in a kind of homage to himself. I mean, that ginger 'fro was his signature!

  3. Loved the hairpiece, and him without it. With all the crappy tats, saline boobs, colored contacts, heels, makeup, fancy clothes we all are fake.

  4. If your hair is thinning and you’re male, do not start hair loss meds. First move is to eat a Epi-paleo diet loaded with iodine, and eliminate all grains.

  5. How can you write about Garfunkel's hairpiece without mentioning Simon's???

    1. Simon and Garfunkel were both at a fairly advanced stage of hair loss even when they first were starting out. Garfunkel's fro was always a wig; he was already basically bald on top by the late 60s, Simon only a little behind him in the balding process.

That's why Simon had that ridiculous looking bang hair cut. That was no trendy mop top look; that was his only option with a thinning scalp.
